For many recipients, the encounters they have with volunteers at PATH are just as important as the assistance they come to receive. By volunteering at PATH, you will make a difference in the life of a person in need.

Volunteering at PATH is a one-of-a-kind experience based on compassion, respect, and dignity. Only through your efforts can PATH achieve our mission to offer hope and help to our neighbors in need. We are so grateful for all of our volunteers and look forward to the time we get to spend and serve together.

In order to meet the needs of all of our volunteers and create a more engaged community, PATH provides numerous volunteer opportunities for groups of all sizes. Whether you are in individual, a family or a corporation, PATH is ready to work together with you to create a better community!



Food Pantry

Help keep PATH’s Food Pantry running smoothly by assisting with pantry selections, stocking and sorting inventory, unloading deliveries, cart running, and other day-to-day needs.

This is a great opportunity for volunteers who are compassionate, patient, and comfortable serving people from all walks of life.

High school and college students are welcome to volunteer in the Food Pantry and may receive volunteer service hours for their time.

Casework

Work one-on-one with PATH clients to understand their needs, offer encouragement, and help connect them with resources that can move them toward greater stability and wellbeing.

Casework is ideal for volunteers who are compassionate, attentive, and interested in working directly with individuals and families.

Under the supervision of PATH staff, volunteer caseworkers meet privately with clients to learn about their current circumstances and needs. Volunteers help gather information, identify available PATH services and connect clients with additional community resources when appropriate.

Caseworkers also update client records using PATH’s Charity Tracker software following each visit.

Must be 18 years of age or older
Basic computer skills
Excellent listening skills
Strong attention to detail



Reception

Be one of the first welcoming faces people see when they arrive at PATH.

Volunteer receptionists greet visitors, help answer questions and connect neighbors in need with the appropriate PATH staff and services.

Reception volunteers interact with clients, donors, community partners and other visitors throughout the day. Responsibilities may include collecting basic client information, providing information about PATH services and directing visitors to the appropriate staff member.

At busy times, receptionists also play an important role in creating a calm, welcoming environment for people who may be experiencing stressful circumstances.

Volunteer Requirements

Must be 18 years of age or older
Basic computer skills
Strong organizational skills
Dependability
Comfortable interacting with people experiencing stressful situations



PATH Community Homes

Help PATH maintain its 44 rental homes throughout Tyler. Volunteers assist with maintenance, repairs, renovations and other projects that help provide quality housing for PATH families.

Both skilled and unskilled volunteers are welcome.

Volunteers work under the supervision of experienced PATH staff and may help with a variety of maintenance, repair and renovation projects.

Community Homes is a great option for individuals as well as volunteer groups from schools, civic organizations, businesses, churches and other organizations.

Volunteers can participate on either a recurring or one-time basis.

Volunteers must be at least 15 years old
Volunteers under 18 must serve with adult supervision



Special Projects

Support PATH’s seasonal donation drives and special community projects throughout the year. These opportunities help PATH collect essential items for neighbors in need while offering flexible ways for individuals and groups to serve.

PATH organizes special drives throughout the year to collect items such as food, soup, personal care products, baby supplies, fans, coats and blankets.

Because many of these projects take place outside traditional work hours, they can be especially good volunteer opportunities for offices, schools, teams, churches and other groups looking to serve together.
